Introduction

The present day business environment has created more challenges for IT/Network Managers. How do I get the best performance from my existing applications? How do I get the best out of my available bandwidth? How do I eliminate downtime and the risk of data loss? How do I reduce new deployment problems and risk? How can I increase productivity and lower costs?

In addition, the introduction of applications such as IP Communications (IP Telephony, VoIP, IP VPN, Unified Messaging and Video over IP) and WLAN has given IT/Network Managers further concerns regarding the performance and management of their networks.

A survey of IT/Network Managers carried out recently by 'Computing' magazine stated that "controlling costs was no longer the prime concern" - "quality of network traffic and security" were the main worries. In the past people's primary concern was always "how to save money". Now people are thinking about "how to improve the overall performance of their networks"

The recent development and improvement of network performance management and (QoS) quality of service tools and systems, now make Network Performance Management a very attractive option and the benefits speak for themselves:

  • greater management and monitoring control over the performance of the applications
  • enhanced network performance and reliability
  • reduced network management overhead and more integrated systems
  • more intelligent handling
  • greater organisational and change flexibility
  • new ways to reduce new deployment problems and risks

However, confusion still abounds and IT/Network Managers, who are looking to discover how to get the best out of their networks, find it increasingly difficult to get unbiased and clear information. This one-day event plans to fill that need.

The aim of the forum

The Network Performance Management 2004 Forum aims to give IT/Network Managers a thorough insight into the strategic, technical and business issues relating to Network Performance and Management, whilst at the same time providing a platform for networking with leading vendors of Network Performance Management technology, solutions and tools at the accompanying exhibition.

Key issues to be discussed

What are the real business benefits of Network Performance Management tools and systems?
How can new technologies enhance network performance?
What are the latest advancements in technology that can create additional network capacity?
What are the recent developments in bandwidth optimisation and usage?
How do you get the best out of your servers?
How can systems offer better control and visibility?
How will new applications like IP Telephony, VoIP and WLAN affect network traffic and the performance of existing applications?
What products are available for monitoring, controlling and accelerating application performance?
What tools are available to measure the performance of applications and analyse results?
What tools are available to reduce new deployment problems and risk?
How can remote access and control systems such as KVM-over-IP be utilized to achieve non-stop data centre performance, at any time, from anywhere?
What tools can automatically send alerts when the status of data centre appliances or room environment exceeds pre-set performance parameters?
What are the Network Performance Management implementation options?
How are companies presently using Network Performance Management tools and systems?

The forum format

The Network Performance Management 2004 Forum will consist of a one-day conference with a series of presentations from leading industry experts, vendors and analysts, together with actual end user case studies.
