Introduction
IP is changing the way companies communicate, and is reshaping the business landscape. Through the unification of voice and data networks, IP enables all types of communications – voice, video and data, wired and wireless voice – run over a single Internet Protocol (IP) network. In turn, users can become more mobile, more productive with greater access to new levels of feature functionality from a diverse range of devices, including phones, PCs, PDAs and mobile phones and can have consistent access to an array of new business communications applications and solutions.
IP Telephony, Unified Messaging, IP Audio/Video Conferencing and IP Contact Centre applications are just a few examples of such solutions. According to recent figures from industry analyst Synergy Research, the market for IP Telephony alone is predicted to grow to $4.4bn in 2006 from $849m in 2002. The recent development and improvement of performance, functionality, standards, security and quality of service (QoS), now make IP Communications a very attractive option and the benefits speak for themselves:
- reduced phone bills and operational costs
- reduced network management overhead and more integrated
systems
- more intelligent call handling
- increased employee mobility, flexibility and productivity
- greater operational efficiency and change flexibility
- more efficient support for remote workers
However, whilst IP Communications is currently on the minds of many IT executives, confusion over the most appropriate implementation options (pure IP versus IP enabled PBXs; unmanaged vs managed), and concerns about quality of service (QoS), standards, costs, voice quality and security still abound. IT Executives who are looking to discover if they can achieve real return on their investments from IP, find it increasingly difficult to get unbiased and clear information. This one-day forum plans to fill that need.
The aim of the forum
The IP Communications 2005 Forum aims to give IT, Network and Telecoms decision makers a thorough insight into the strategic and business issues relating to IP Communications implementation and management, whilst at the same time providing a platform for networking with leading vendors of IP Communications technology and solutions at the accompanying exhibition.
Key issues to be discussed
What are the real business benefits of IP Communications?
What are the pros and cons versus existing networks?
How to implement a framework for developing an IP Communications strategy
How to develop IT and operational capabilities for IP Communications
What are the IP Communications implementation options? (Pure IP vs IP-enabled PBXs vs IP Centrex systems; unmanaged services vs managed) (gradual migration vs complete migration)
What role do IP VPNs have to play?
How have standards such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) affected IP rollouts?
What QoS (Quality of Service) and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) should be in place?
How will new IP applications affect network traffic and the performance of existing applications?
What products are available for monitoring, controlling and accelerating application performance?
What tools are available to measure the performance of applications and analyse results?
How effective are quality of service (QoS) tools?
What steps to take to manage and secure your IP network?
What are the rewards and risks in IP implementation? What are the killer applications?
How are companies presently using IP Communications technology?
The forum format
The IP Communications 2005 Forum will consist of a one-day conference with a series of presentations from leading industry experts and vendors together with actual end user case studies.
