Introduction
IP VPNs (SSL, IPSec, MPLS and Managed) offer a flexible, cost-effective and secure alternative to expensive leased lines, and are an especially effective means of exchanging critical information for employees working remotely in branch offices, at home, or on the road. They can also enable organisations to extend secure and cost-effective site-to-site connectivity to customers, suppliers and business partners, who may have a huge physical distance between them.
The recent development and improvement of technology, standards and security, now make IP VPNs a very attractive option and the benefits speak for themselves:
- anywhere, anytime access
- reduced operational costs
- exceptional network performance and reliability
- highest levels of security
- increased employee mobility and productivity
- teleworker support
- greater organisational and change flexibility
However, confusion still abounds and executives who are looking to discover the "pros and cons" of SSL, IP Sec, MPLS and Managed VPNs for secure site-to-site and remote access connectivity, find it increasingly difficult to get unbiased and clear information. This one-day event plans to fill that need.
The aim of the forum
The Enterprise IP VPN (Secure Site-to-Site and Remote Access) 2008 Forum aims to give IT, Network and Telecoms Managers from end user organisations a thorough insight into the strategic and business issues relating to IP VPN implementation and management, whilst at the same time providing a platform for networking with leading vendors of IP VPN technology and solutions at the accompanying exhibition.
Key issues to be discussed
What are the real business benefits of IP VPN?
What are the pros and cons versus existing ISDN, Leased Line and Frame Relay networks?
How to implement a framework for developing an IP VPN strategy
How to develop IT and operational capabilities for IP VPN
What are the IP VPN implementation options? (IPSec vs SSL; unmanaged Services vs managed; CPE-based services vs network based; IPSec vs MPLS vs SSL)
The technology is changing so fast - how can you avoid backing the wrong horse?
What should you be looking for from a potential IP VPN supplier?
What QoS (Quality of Service) and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) should be in place?
How effective are quality of service (QoS) tools?
What products are available for monitoring, controlling and accelerating application performance?
What steps to take to secure your IP VPN network?
What are the rewards and risks in IP VPN implementation? What are the killer applications?
How are companies presently using IP VPN technology?
The forum format
The Enterprise IP VPN (Secure Site-to-Site & Remote Access) 2008 Forum will consist of a one-day conference with a series of presentations from leading industry experts, vendors and analysts, together with actual end user case studies. Stopping Threatening Behaviour
Types of attack may change, but the threats remain very
real. Criminal activity has become serious and organised, and aims to
steal confidential data via the web or from unsecured
endpoints. What's more, this activity targets companies of all sizes -
from SMBs to enterprises. So how do you protect your data, whether
it's in motion on a CD or laptop computer, or at rest within the
company network? This presentation by Check Point shows how to stop
threatening behaviour, including:
- Responding to the changing threat environment
- The security solutions that matter
- Calculating TCO and ROI

How are companies presently using IP VPN technology?
- New applications can deliver bottom line, business benefits
- But legacy IPVPNs are unscalable, uneconomic and slow to deliver
- Next Generation Networks are scalable & economic but don't provide an answer in themselves
- The key is re-inventing the service wrap around the new network, for example predictable, faster delivery
- This enables a better focus on the customers' issues and levers able to influence the core business; the conversations around network are not the main area for debate - the bandwidth is on tap
Julian Payne, Head of Data Products, Cable & Wireless |
