Introduction
Unified Communications (UC) have been designed to allow people using different modes of communication, media, and devices to communicate with anyone, anywhere, at any time. All your tools for communicating brought together into a single, seamless interface.
In turn, users can become more mobile and more productive with greater access to new levels of feature functionality such as presence (which allow two parties to actually communicate with each other and not just an unattended device), from a diverse range of interfaces and devices, including phones, PCs, PDAs, and mobile phones, and can have consistent access to an array of new business communications applications and solutions such as voip, fax, video, email, voicemail, instant messaging, conferencing and presence from a single system.
and the benefits speak for themselves:
- increased employee mobility, flexibility and productivity
- more dynamic access to vital information in multiple formats
- anytime, anywhere access to all communications
- more efficient support for remote and home workers
- greater operational efficiency and moves, adds and changes flexibility
- centralized management of core systems
- reduction in total cost of ownership for communications systems
- reduction in telephone bills and operating costs
However, whilst Unified Communications is currently on the minds of many IT executives, choosing the right architecture isn't going to be easy. Virtually every supplier targeting the enterprise market with IP PBX, VoIP, web conferencing, instant messaging or video conferencing equipment offers elements of an enterprise-grade Unified Communications solution. IT Executives who are looking to discover if they can achieve real return on their investments from Unified Communications, will therefore find it increasingly difficult to get unbiased and clear information. This one-day forum plans to fill that need.
The aim of the forum
The Enterprise Unified Communications (UC) 2009 Forum aims to give IT, Network and Telecoms Managers from end user organisations a thorough insight into the strategic and business issues relating to UC implementation and management, whilst at the same time providing a platform for networking with leading vendors of UC technology and solutions at the accompanying exhibition.
Key issues to be discussed
What exactly does Unified Communications mean and what are the real business benefits?
How does a UC system enable more effective communications?
Which are the most important tools of UC - Presence, VoIP, IM, Video, Conferencing, Collaboration Tools or others?
How to design and manage a framework for developing a UC implementation strategy to integrate these tools into current business processes?
What can be added to my present infrastructure to create a UC environment?
Which components of my current set-up will not be applicable to UC, and how should they be phased out?
What are the benefits of upgrading my entire communications system to UC?
What new tools are required and how should they be implemented?
How to balance financial, operational and risk factors to choose the right ones?
How to develop IT and operational capabilities to ensure reliability, security, interoperability and manageability
The technology is developing so fast - how can you avoid backing the wrong horse?
What should you be looking for from a potential UC supplier?
How are companies presently using UC technology?
The forum format
The Enterprise Unified Communications (UC) 2009 Forum will consist of a one-day conference with a series of presentations from leading industry experts, vendors and analysts, together with actual end user case studies. The Five Top UC Applications: How they are transforming forward thinking businesses with high returns and rapid payback.
Finding the communications hotspots in your business that will benefit from these applications.
For the past few years organisations have been asking, "What is unified communications?" and "What is the ROI from unified communications?" We're now seeing the answers to those questions in the form of clear unified communications (UC) definitions and specific high-payback UC applications.
This presentation will set the stage by reviewing the structure of UC and then will highlight the "top five" (vendor agnostic) UC applications, describing the features that enable these applications and outlining the benefits that customers are accruing from these UC solutions.
