Introduction
The present economic climate has caused IT decision makers to look at ways of cutting costs and overheads and Cloud Computing is being looked at as a possible panacea. Cloud Computing is a form of outsourcing by which vendors supply massively scalable solutions as computing services over the internet. These services can range from applications, such as ERP and CRM management software, to infrastructure, such as server hardware, storage and bandwidth and the provision of development platforms.
One of the main advantages of cloud computing is that it enables users to control costs by using and paying for what they need when they need it, which is particularly important in a downturn. Cloud computing has been made possible through advances in processors, virtualisation and storage technology, fast, inexpensive servers and widespread, reliable broadband connectivity.
The benefits include reduction in overall IT costs, improved efficiency, easier set up and management, greater business flexibility, on-demand access, usage metering, self service, scalability, elasticity and immediate access to a broad range of applications from any location.
However, whilst cloud computing is on the minds of many IT decision makers concerns about lock-in, security, SLAs, latency, availability, regulatory compliance and loss of control of underlying infrastructure still abound. IT executives who are looking to discover if they can achieve real return on their investments from cloud computing, find it increasingly difficult to get unbiased and clear information. This one-day event plans to fill that need.
The aim of the forum
The Enterprise Cloud Computing 2009 Forum aims to give IT Managers from end user organisations a thorough insight into the strategic and business issues relating to Cloud Computing implementation and management, whilst at the same time providing a platform for networking with leading vendors of Cloud Computing technology and services at the accompanying exhibition.
Key issues to be discussed
What exactly does Cloud Computing mean and what are the real business benefits?
What are the most appropriate enterprise uses for Cloud Computing?
How does Cloud Computing enable more flexibility?
What are the rewards and risks in the Cloud?
What are the critical challenges and issues in implementation and operation?
How to design and manage a framework for developing an implementation
strategy to integrate Cloud services into current business processes?
What are the operational issues and best practices associated with running applications and infrastructure on the Cloud?
How to develop IT and operational capabilities to ensure reliability, security, interoperability and manageability
What are the expected service levels? What SLAs should be in place?
What should you be looking for from a potential Cloud Computing supplier?
How are companies presently using Cloud Computing technology?
The forum format
The Enterprise Cloud Computing 2009 Forum will consist of a one-day conference with a series of presentations from leading industry experts, vendors and analysts, together with actual end user case studies. There will also be a small exhibition where delegates will have access to a range of supplier companies during the conference refreshment and lunch breaks.
