Introduction
Private Clouds offer a flexible, cost effective and secure alternative to public clouds, and can either be managed or hosted (on-premise) internally in your own infrastructure or outsourced, hosted or managed (off-premise) by an external service provider.
According to recent figures from industry analyst Forrester the market for private cloud solutions will grow from $7.8 billion in 2011 to $15.9 Billion in 2020 and the market for virtual private cloud solutions will grow from $7.5 billion to $66.4 billion.
The case for the private cloud is very compelling. They have much higher levels of capacity utilization and scalability then the traditional data centres they replace and can allow a company to gain many of the scale economies and speed and flexibility benefits of the public cloud while avoiding the security concerns, contracting issues and other uncertainties, and the benefits speak for themselves:
- Available on demand
- Faster provisioning of business services and applications
- Highest level of security
- Consistent and predictable level of service
- Reduced operational costs
- Greater organizational and change flexibility
- Improved agility and infrastructure utilisation
- Anywhere, anytime access
However, confusion still abounds and IT decision makers from medium and large enterprises and government, who are looking to discover the 'pros and cons' of both on- and off-premise private clouds, find it increasingly difficult to get unbiased and clear information. This one-day event plans to fill that need.
The aim of the forum
The Private Cloud: On and Off Premise Forum aims to give IT Managers from end user organisations a thorough insight into the strategic and business issues relating to both on- and off- premise Private Cloud implementation and management, whilst at the same time providing a platform for networking with leading vendors of Private Cloud technology and solutions at the accompanying exhibition.
Key issues to be discussed
What are the real business benefits of Private Clouds?
How to implement a framework for developing a Private Cloud Strategy
What are the Private Cloud implementation options? (on-premise vs off- premise; hosted vs virtual private clouds; unmanaged services vs managed);
What are the pros and cons of building an on-premise private cloud versus outsourcing off-premise with a service provider?
What is the most secure, reliable and cost effective method of accessing an off-premise private cloud?
Which cloud model is right for you? (IaaS, Saas, PaaS, CaaS)
What QoS (Quality of Service) and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) should be in place?
What steps to take to secure your Private Cloud?
What products are available for monitoring, controlling and accelerating application performance?
Will it still be possible to access the public cloud for non-critical applications?
How are companies presently using Private Cloud technology?
The forum format
The Private Cloud: On and Off Premise Forum will consist of a one-day conference with a series of presentations from leading industry experts, vendors and analysts, together with actual end user case studies.
